Tagged Under :

Simultaneous with the launch of the N97, Nokia today launched a trio of companion devices. The Home Music is Nokia’s first Internet radio and provides both Ethernet and Wi-Fi to either stream online content (in unspecified formats) or else music from local computers that support UPnP sharing. It also supports USB and an aux-in jack to directly connect portable media players and other devices and also has FM radio as a traditional fallback. The Internet Stick CS-10 in turn is Nokia’s latest USB modem and supplies both 7.2Mbps HSPA 3G and slower EDGE data in the 850MHz North American band as well as both 2,100MHz HSPA for Europe and the remaining 900MHz, 1,800MHz and 1,900MHz bands for EDGE alone. Like many newer modems, no separate driver disc is necessary and the modem will work with Mac OS X as well as Windows XP and Vista.

Nokia intros touchscreen N97

Tagged Under : ,

Nokia used its own Nokia World expo to establish a touchscreen phone as its new leading device and its best chance against the iPhone. The N97 has a full 3.5-inch touch LCD that shares the same Symbian S60 5th Edition platform as the 5800 XpressMusic but also hides a slide-out QWERTY keyboard that locks into a more natural typing angle like the AT&T Tilt. Accordingly, the phone is pitched as a social networking hub and includes a new home screen that optionally shows status update widgets from Facebook, MySpace and Nokia’s own Ovi service among others. The handset is also reportedly Nokia’s most media-friendly device. Apart from a 16:9 ratio display suited to videos, the phone is one of the first to carry 32GB of storage built-in and still has room for a microSDHC card slot to add an extra 16GB. A native 3.5mm headphone jack and a large battery that supplies up to 37 hours of music (or six hours of 3G calling) also render it a true media player.

Nokia E51

When the E51came out we were very impressed. Strong on paper specifications and a rugged phone that was sleek and stylish.

The build quality of this phone is great, and the phone itself has been well designed.

This thin, stainless steel E51 has a 2-inch display (240 x 320 pixels) with a good depth of 16.7 million colors. It also has an ambient light sensor with a  LED light indicator which can be customized so that you know you have  missed calls or even incoming emails and text messages. It has a standard numeric keypad and several One Touch keys that provide direct access to functions, which also includes email, Blue tooth, and the Home screen!

It’s got a clear, crisp screen that does seem tiny in comparison to others.

It’s rich in terms of connectivity options although its light on multimedia features.

It targets the business who wants something basic.

It still makes a decent buy for someone looking for a good, feature rich phone at reasonable price.
