Nikon launched its long-anticipated D3X as its new flagship digital SLR. As slipped by the company ahead of time, the new pro camera roughly doubles the sensor density to 24.5 megapixels and produces a native 6048×4032 picture — enough to rival a medium-format camera in a handheld format, the company claims. The camera also adds 16-bit color processing for further image accuracy improvements over the 14-bit D3.
SanDisk is claiming that its Extreme III SDHC memory card line-up can deliver read/write speeds of up to 30MB/s when used with Nikon’s new SLR - the D90.
The manufacturer explains that the new cards deliver a 50% speed boost from previous 20MB/s cards, which means, in the right cameras, photographers can record 39 images in continuous shooting mode at 4.5 frames per second with a file size of 6.0 MB JPEG L Fine per image.
Nikon will be releasing the Coolpix S60 this September, making it one of the latest Coolpix digital cameras available that aims to being together both form and function without compromising on either. What makes the S60 stand out from many other generic digital cameras is the 3.5? touch screen LCD display and a new graphical user interface that literally places shooting and playback controls at the user’s fingertips. My guess is you will be requiring plenty of tissues as your mates fiddle around with your latest toy. Alternatively, you can always keep a screen cleaner handy nearby so that those pesky fingerprints can be removed any time you like.
Next month in the Berlin IFS Nikon is expected to unveil its new DSLR camera the Nikon D90 which is the first DSLR camera to feature video recording as well as stills capability.
