Slingbox has created the all-new SlingPlayer Mobile for iPhone, and another will be an HD SlingPlayer for Mac. Slingbox allows the DVR/set-box video to connect directly to their iPhone screens. Many kinds of   SlingPlayer Mobile devices have gone into the market in the past few years, and the SlingPlayer Mobile for BlackBerry is now available in beta. By the quarter of the year, Sling Media will approve the iPhone version of SlingPlayer Mobile to get it’s  “certification” in Q1, other than that, it’s not known when Apple will approve this device for their store. Apple has given the green light for other streaming applications, like Joost for iPhone and OrbLive, so maybe SlingPlayer Mobile will be next in line. Apple is an awesome company, and love technology of course, so you can never tell what they may have in mind. For the SlingPlayer Mobile iPhone there is no information about the pricing for this device but, the other versions of SlingPlayers are selling for about $30.00. SlingPlayer for Mac is coming out soon with great HD-Quality from Slingbox Pro HD, but the PC version will be Web-Based and the Mac version only streams SD Video. Mozilla has realised that developing a version of Firefox for Linux and Windows Mobile isn’t enough, as it now plans to drop one into Symbian handsets too.

Mozilla’s Christian Sejersen let slip this little nugget of information on his blog stating that:

“In Q3 2008 Symbian had 49.8% of the total smartphone sales (and 57% in Q2) according to Gartner compared to 11.1% for Windows Mobile and 7.2% for Linux.

“So in order for Mozilla to be relevant in the smartphone space we need to have a presence on the Symbian platform.”

HTC is launching a new smartphone from Touch series, a phone that is oriented towards entertainment functionalities. This unit has a touchscreen with WVGA resolution (480 x 800) and a normal HTC interface, TouchFlo3D that offers fast and intuitive access to the phone functionalities. Connectivity of Touch HD includes GSM/EDGE, 3G with HSDPA, WiFi 802.11g and A-GPS in addition with Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR. The phone includes a 5 Mp camera and a secondary frontal VGA camera for video calls.This one includes 512 MB of ROM and 288 MB of RAM.

The Nokia E71 is among the best-equipped Nokia smartphones to-date. Like most other phones coming these days it also has a never ending list of features. Some of these include–built-in GPS receiver, 3.15 megapixel auto focus camera with LED flash, Quad-band GSM support, 3G with HSDPA 3.6Mbps support, 110 MB of internal memory, microSD expansion, ships with a 2GB card, Symbian 9.2 OS, 369 MHz ARM 11 CPU and 128 MB of SDRAM, the battery life is excellent. Nokia E71 is a powerful business tool - in fact it is one of the most capable we’ve ever seen. But there is nothing what you call perfect in this world. Its major disadvantages are–below average camera performance, no RDS for the FM radio, video recording maxes out at QVGA@15fps, cheap-looking power key.

On the whole the performance of Nokia E71 is praiseworthy.
