The BlackBerry Curve 8900 was given its second major launch with news that UK retailer Carphone Warehouse will be the next to pick up the RIM smartphone on December 20th. The choice of carrier and pricing haven’t been named but will see Carphone as the exclusive third-party to carry the device, which resembles a smaller, 2G-only version of the BlackBerry Bold.

During our briefing, there were a few hiccups in performance, but we’re going to keep our fingers crossed and chalk it up to the fact that it wasn’t a final unit. There’s also 128MB of flash memory and 1GB of onboard memory, which is all supplemented by the microSD/SDHC expansion slot (supports up to 16GB cards).

Palm has announced a new smartphone it hopes will take on the iPhone and the BlackBerrys of this world.
Very much as rumoured, the new handset will be called the Palm Treo Pro, come with Windows Mobile 6.1 support and offer a QWERTY keyboard, Wi-Fi, GPS and a whole host of other features for business folk on the move.

New Blackberry Bold

Blackberry will release the latest version of its emailing mobile phone the Blackberry Bold later this month in an ongoing technology battle with rivals Apple an Nokia.The new phone, called the Bold, will go on sale in the UK around the middle of this month, although no date has yet been set.
It is expected to be available initially at retailers Carphone Warehouse and T-Mobile.
The Carphone Warehouse said the Blackberry Bold, like its rival the iPhone 3G, will be free with a contract but wont be available on “pay as you go†deals.
