Many Asus Eee-PC owners need to boost the internal storage of the netbooks and you can do it cheap and fast by installing a DIY CF to SSD adapter.
The Eee-PC 901 has a 12GB or 20GB solid-state drive (SSD). This is ok  if you don’t need to install anything else, but if you want to install more software, you can run out of space pretty fast, and the DIY SSD to CF adapter may be necessary, with this  adapter, you can purchase cheap regular Compact Flash (CF) cards and use them for the main hard drive in your Eee-PC. This also means you could boost your 12GB and your 20GB to 32GB just by using a Compact Flash card . Taking out the old storage in your netbook is a cinch because all you have to do is just pop this in its place.

Toshiba rolls out first 512GB notebook SSD

Tagged Under :

Toshiba late Wednesday said it has set a record for flash storage with the first-ever 2.5-inch 512GB solid-state drive. It makes use of the company’s newest 43 nanometer assembly process and particularly dense multi-level cell storage to double the 256GB record only just set earlier this year. The capacity boost also comes alongside faster performance; Toshiba sees peak read speeds of 240MB per second and write speeds of 200MB per second. Longevity is also a focus with a mean time between failures of one million hours (114 years), though the cells themselves will typically wear out sooner. AES encryption is also an option to lock down the drive, which plugs into a typical SATA notebook drive bay.

ASUS creates a Laptop encased in Bamboo

Tagged Under :

ASUS creates a Laptop encased in Bamboo and it could masks theives from really knowing what you are carrying. It has a 12.1 inch screen display,3 USB ports that comes iwth eSATA with a full size express card slot. Data security is great because it is handled by fingerprint sensor and TPM security chip combo. The super hybrid engine has shortcut buttons, and the software can adjust the processor speed for gaming because it has NVDIA GeForce 9300M GS graphics Card and it is set to play games with Optimum Performance!

If you need to save the battery life you can adjust this device settings to save power, although it will reduce performance like the lighting display for brightness but you can still get the job done. However, FireWire is not available and the modem port is blocked out and there is a 3-cell battery that is standard included with this purchase, with the cell given you can get up to 3 hours and a 6-cell option would have been great, but the Bamboo cover is like a nice trick and is using organic materials to produce, so it’s great for saving the environment.  Asia.cnet.com
