Logitech this Thursday confirmed the release of its newest gaming masterpiece, the Wireless Guitar Controller for Guitar Hero on the PlayStation 2 (PS2) and PlayStation 3 (PS3) gaming consoles from Sony. The guitar is designed and seems to have done a good job in replicating a real musical instrument and sports a wooden neck, a rosewood fingerboard, metal frets and a gig bag. It also represents the first device in an upcoming line up of premium peripherals for the Guitar Hero game series that are targeted at frequent players or budding musicians who want a similar experience. The initial guitar operates on the 2.4GHz RF wireless band to provide a range of up to 30 feet from the console, which requires a USB receiver to be plugged in.
Logitech usew the same rubber dome technology it uses on its PC keyboards to minimize button noise. A new, touch-sensitive neck slider gives users the option of not having to strum to rack up points, and provides a way to create new sounds in Guitar Hero World Tour’s Music Studio feature.
The guitar requires two AA batteries; its gig bag protects the guitar and provides extra space for game discs and wireless receivers. The Logitech Wireless Guitar Controller Premiere Edition will ship in December, priced at just about $250.
